Grace E. Studer is a founding partner of Spurrell, Studer & Matney Law Group, PLLC, where she focuses her practice on complex family law, civil litigation, and criminal defense matters in both state and federal courts. Known for her thorough preparation, practical advice, and strong courtroom advocacy, Grace represents clients throughout Northeast Tennessee in some of the most challenging and important moments of their lives.

A 2017 magna cum laude graduate of Charleston School of Law, Grace served as Associate Managing Editor of the Charleston Law Review. During law school, her article, Live Streaming Violence over Social Media: An Ethical Dilemma, was selected for publication, reflecting her longstanding interest in complex legal issues and emerging areas of law.

Before returning home to East Tennessee, Grace practiced in Washington State, where she defended clients in civil litigation and accident-related claims. She also volunteered with a legal aid clinic assisting individuals facing housing disputes and eviction proceedings. Those experiences reinforced her belief that every client deserves skilled, accessible legal representation regardless of the circumstances they face.

Grace and her father, Don Spurrell, founded the firm with a simple mission: to provide the level of legal representation found in larger metropolitan markets while maintaining the accessibility and personal attention clients deserve in their local community. Today, Grace regularly appears in state and federal courts and handles a wide range of matters, including divorce, custody and parenting disputes, child support issues, dependency and neglect proceedings, juvenile court matters, accident and injury claims, business disputes, and state and federal criminal defense.

Grace has been recognized as a Rising Stars attorney, an honor reserved for a select percentage of attorneys within each state who demonstrate professional achievement and peer recognition.

Clients appreciate Grace’s ability to combine compassionate counsel with aggressive advocacy when necessary. She understands that legal problems rarely arise at convenient times, and she works closely with her clients to develop practical solutions while protecting what matters most to them.

Outside the office, Grace enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, traveling, exploring the beauty of East Tennessee, and pursuing creative projects at home.
