Matthew D. Matney

Matthew D. Matney brings something rare to criminal defense and DUI cases: years on the other side of the courtroom as a prosecutor for the State of Tennessee. A 2015 graduate of the Appalachian School of Law - where he served as President of the Environmental Law Society and Vice President of the Phi Delta Phi National Honor Society - Matt completed a judicial externship with the Thirtieth Judicial Circuit before launching his legal career.

After law school, Matt joined one of Nashville’s premier personal injury firms, building deep litigation experience before accepting a position as Assistant District Attorney. Serving under two elected District Attorneys, he evaluated, processed, and prosecuted criminal cases across the board - and learned exactly what law enforcement does and how prosecutors build their cases.

That inside knowledge is now your advantage. Matt knows the tactics, the weaknesses, and the pressure points in a criminal or DUI case because he used them. He uses that experience to build sharper defenses and find the strategies that win.

When he isn’t in the courtroom or pursuing continuing legal education, Matt enjoys time with his family (dogs very much included), traveling, and catching live music on Broadway in downtown Nashville.
